Frequently Asked Questions (“FAQs”)
-
WHAT TYPES OF PERSONAL INJURY CASES DO YOU HANDLE?
At the Law Offices of Kenny Ramos, P.C., we represent clients across a broad range of personal injury matters in Texas. Our practice areas include car accidents, truck and 18-wheeler accidents, motorcycle crashes, slip and fall injuries (premises liability), wrongful death claims, and more. Whether you have been injured in a collision on a Houston freeway or hurt due to dangerous conditions on someone else's property, our firm is here to fight for the compensation you deserve.
-
HOW DO I KNOW IF I HAVE A PERSONAL INJURY CASE?
If you were injured because of another party’s negligence or recklessness, you may have a valid personal injury claim. This includes injuries from car accidents, dangerous property conditions, defective products, or workplace incidents. During your free case evaluation, our legal team will review the facts of your situation and explain your rights under Texas law.
-
IS THERE A STATUTE OF LIMITATIONS, OR A TIME LIMIT, ON HOW LONG I HAVE TO FILE A PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM IN TEXAS?
Under the Texas statute of limitations, you typically have two years from the date of your injury to file a lawsuit. If you miss this deadline, you could lose your right to recover damages. Some exceptions apply, especially in cases involving minors or government entities. It is critical to consult an attorney as soon as possible to protect your legal rights.

-
WHAT IF I WAS PARTIALLY AT FAULT FOR THE ACCIDENT?
Texas follows a rule called modified comparative negligence. You can still recover damages as long as you were less than 51% at fault for the accident. However, your compensation will be reduced by your percentage of fault. For example, if you are awarded $100,000 but found to be 20% at fault, you will receive $80,000.
We will fight to minimize any fault assigned to you and to maximize your recovery.
-
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO RESOLVE A PERSONAL INJURY CASE?
Timelines vary. A straightforward car accident case may settle within a few months, while more complex injury claims or cases that go to trial can take a year or longer. We will walk you through the process, keep you updated regularly, and work efficiently to get the compensation that you deserve as quickly as possible.
-
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO HIRE YOUR FIRM?
Our firm works on a contingency fee basis—you do not pay anything upfront. We only get paid if we recover compensation for you. That means no attorney fees unless we win your case. We also offer free consultations, so there is no risk in speaking with us about your situation.
